Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for as long as there has been modern computers. Alan Turin who was one of the code breakers at Bletchley during the war was considered the founder of the maodern computer and there is a test called the Turin Test.
In this test he considers a machine to the intelligent when it can answers questions so well that that the person asking them doesn’t realise that it is not human.
What we have instead is a vague understand and appreciation of what AI actually is. People don’t agree what defines artificial intelligence. A computer can look a large amount of data and analyse it far better than a human could but ask it to make a cup of tea and it starts to struggle. In the same way that a dog can be considered intelligent but not in the same way as a human.
A piece of computer code can be written so that it can learn rather than just do but it is still the skill of the human programmer that is required to make it work. The code is only as good as the programmer. Compared to the human brain there is nothing to rival it. The computer, even the most sophisticated is a dullard compared to it.
